2. “Four Villages - Four Stories” (duration 4-5 hours)
Explore four beautiful Pelion villages during this half-day tour and learn about their unique history.
Our tour starts with a breathtaking drive to the mountain through beautiful olive groves perched on steep slopes. During this time you will enjoy spectacular views to the bay and the centuries-old tower houses that lay abandoned in the modern landscape.
Arriving at the first village you will meet the legend of the Little Pelion Train and marvel at the 18th century church of the Holy Archangels, before we head to our next village. Some of the most spectacular Pelion mansions are located at Vizitsa, where secular and religious life coexist so harmoniously with an operating monastery located just a few steps away from the main square of the village. After experiencing the hospitality of the local women and getting a taste of their local home-made products, we will head to Pinakates, an almost unspoiled village were electricity arrived in the mid-70s, and then to Agios Georgios which we like to call the "king of the Pelion villages".
At the end of our tour, as we descend down to the coastal road again and drive back to Volos, you will have time to think which of the four villages became your favorite!
3. “Mamma Mia Pelion Tour” (duration 6 hours)
"Mamma Mia" movie’s filming location on Pelion is just as magical in real life as it is on-screen. During our 6-hour tour you will visit Damouhari, the filming location for two scenes: the arrival of Tanya and Rosie at the harbor village and the set for the climax of ‘Dancing Queen’, where Donna jumps into the sea after descending from the villa.
Our tour also includes a visit to Tsagkarada a traditional mountain village famous for its thousand-year-old plane tree.
This is a fully narrated and guided tour perfect for "Mamma Mia" movie fans as well as those who wish to enjoy the stunning beauty of the mountain and the blue waters of the Aegean Sea.
4. “Pelion Grand Tour” (duration 8-9 hours)
This is a highly customized and fully narrated tour packed with amazing lookouts, picturesque villages, and nature at its best, that introduces you to the grandiosity of Mount Pelion.
Entering the mountain from the east through the village of Milies where we have our first stop, we head to central and eastern Pelion to explore the villages of Tsagkarada with the thousand year old plane tree and Kissos with the spectacular church of Agia Marina. It will be time for a picnic lunch or a quick lunch at a local tavern.
When we get to the small village of Hania at the top of the mountain, you can breath in the cool mountain breeze, enjoy a cup of local mountain tea and buy Pelion honey choosing from a dozen different varieties and flavors, before we start our descent to Portaria on the west side of the mountain.
At the end of the day, you will be back in Volos with a brain full of new facts about Pelion and a bit of energy left from not having to navigate the Pelion roads yourself!
