Summer 2021 | Family Experiences & Guided Tours For Kids
Tour #1 - Mysteries at the Museum (at the Archaeological Museum of Volos)
Take the kids on a journey through Volos' past at the Archaeological Museum. During our tour, we explore 12 curious and enigmatic objects in the museum carefully selected to represent all major periods of Greek civilization and aspects of ancient life (sports, religious beliefs, wedding, death, food and diet).
The kids have fun trying to guess what each object represents and how it was used and are encouraged to find the answers themselves.
Duration: 1 hour
Tour #2 – Building Family Memories (at the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum, Volos)
There was a time when Volos was a major industrial city. The museum located in the Historic District of Volos draws on this rich industrial heritage to tell the story of brick and tile making.
Outside, the kids can marvel at the giant “frying pans” used to clean the clay from impurities, hop on the steam locomotive used to carry dirt to the factory from kilometers away and climb the big ramp next to the rail cars. Inside, the factory’s actual steam engines, endless drying corridors and the “maze” of the Hoffman kiln along with operating models and interactive displays will keep children engaged during this fun yet educational tour.
Duration: 1 hour
Tour #3 – The Pelion Experience (starting at the Ano Lechonia Train Station)
